The Deng Xiaoping Memorial Park lies in Paifang Village in the town of Xiexing, which in turn is located 7 kilometers from the center of the city of Guang'an. Three generations of the Deng family lived here. On August 22, 1904, Deng Xiaoping was born and then spent 15 years of his life here.
The residence is a traditional farmhouse with 17 rooms, covering an area of 800 square meters
On the gate of the yard is the stele "Deng Xiaoping Gu Ju" (the former residence of Deng Xiaoping), written by Jiang Zemin, the former president of China. The parquet is the place where the Dengs used to host guests. On the left of the parquet is Deng Xiaoping's grandmother's room, on the right, his parents', and the one next, his brothers'. Many things they used to use are still there. Deng Xiaoping's room is beside the dining room. There lies a plain but special table, where the lamp, paper, brush, and inkstand Deng Xiaoping once used still remain.
Although having only lived here for 15 years, it left a strong memory on Deng. He has said more than once: "We must make Guang'an better."
