hi, my wife and I have extended our stay in Xi'an because we've both fallen ill and don't have much energy. We wanted to buy train tickets to Yichang so we can get on a cruise ship to Chongqing but I didn't want to go all the way to the train station to ask.

Can you tell me:

Is there is a 1st class sleeper service from Xi'an to Yichang? I found train K626 but I don't know if it has 2 berth rooms
Is there also one from Chongqing to Kunming?
And one from Kunming to Guilin?

Many thanks for your help

Of course. The festive season is eating time in Chinese culture. I can't imagine any restaurant will be closed.

Yes, you can get a cab to Badaling. You can certainly follow the tour group. You can also take bus. There are too many choices.

Hi there, I am travelling to Beijing for Chinese New Year on 23rd Jan. Are the restaurant open during this festive season? If I need to visit The Great Wall at Badaling, can I get a cab or do I need to follow local arranged tour?

Hello, Dear Friends!

I'm travelling from FuZhou to Shanghai in a week or two!
I checked the train schedule and there are pretty a lot of trains travelling this root.
But i'm still afraid the tickets will be sold out or smth...that i won't be able to buy right before departure.
should i try to book beforehand or no need to worry?
Please! help me somehow

I don't think it's a good idea to try to buy the ticket right before departure.

You can buy train tickets at least 10 days in advance. If for any reason, the particular train has already been fully booked, you can always try another train.

Good luck.

Hi,

We will be travelling from Shanghai to Beijing on the 21st of January 2010 and would like to get sleeper tickets (we are 2 people) on the over night train. Our hotel does not seem to offer the booking service, we arrive in shanghai on the 19th of Jan, do you think we will be able to get the tickets if we go to the train station then?

Also, we will be getting the train from Beijing to Xi'an on the 25th of Jan and would like the same type of ticket, will this also be possible if we perchase at the station when we arrive in Beijing on the 22nd?

Many thanks for any help you can offer on this.

Kind regards,
Carina

I don't think it's a sure thing to get sleeper tickets from Shanghai to Beijing or from Beijing to Xi'an a couple days in advance.

Sonia,

Many thanks for your relpy even though it's not what I was hoping for. We will try and find another solution.

Kind regards,
Carina

Hi there, I am travelling from Beijing to Xian via overnight train sleeper on Friday night 18th December. Will it be easy for me to purchase ticket in Beijing or pre book it via the hotel?
Then another overnight train ticket from Xian to Shanghai on Sunday night 20th December? Are these busy times in China? will it be hard to get tickets?

I'd pre book it via the hotel for the peace of mind. The service fee should be very low.

No, Dec. 20 is not busy time in China. But sleeper tickets can be hard to get all the time. So if you can, pre book it via the hotel.

Good luck.
