Located in the eastern central part of Zhejiang Province, Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area is the birthplace of the Tiantai School and the Lotus School of Buddhism, also the hometown of Monk Jigong, the living Buddha. It gathers the beauty of various mountains with the greatest feature of oldness, quietness, green and oddness.
The Tiantai Mountain Scenic Resort has advantaged natural sights and brilliant cultural relics. The Shiliang Faguang Temple is reputed as the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats. Wannian Temple is listed as one of the famous Ten Buddhist Zen Temples on Five Mountains, and the Gaoming Temple is listed as one of the National Key Buddhist Temples. It also boasts countless oddly shaped stones, peculiar rocks, secluded caves, running waterfalls, clear springs, ancient trees, and rare flowers, birds and animals.

Taizhou enjoys subtropical monsoon climate. It has moderate rainfall and pleasant temperature with annual average temperature of 16.8 C. The best time to visit Taizhou is from April to October.
