[edit] Description

Xi'an city wall is one of the oldest and best preserved Chinese city walls. It encircles an area of 12 km². The wall measures 11.9 km in circumference, 12 m in height, and 15-18 m in thickness at the base.

Xi'an city wall has been completely restored. You can walk on the top of the wall (about 3 hrs to complete the whole loop). Or you can rent a bike at the top of the South gate. The park around the base of the exterior walls, the deep moat, and the views of other structures will give you a very enjoyable and interesting experience, as well as a different perspective on the castles, towers and battlements.
